Scalp Micro-Pigmentation (SMP) for Hair Loss

SMP uses medical tattooing technique to create a very realistic appearance of a normal hairline and denser hair wherever there is hair loss & thinning
SMP BEFORE AFTER.png

Scalp MicroPigmentation is medical hair pigmentation/tattoo. SMP is the process of embedding natural pigments into the top layer of your epidermis to create the illusion of a natural hairline or increased hair density to look like your own hair follicles. It can be used to bring a receding hairline forward to a youthful appearance and contour. SMP can also be used to create the appearance of more density in affected areas of hair loss for both men and women.

SMP Practitioners are not tattoo artists. They must be licensed by the state and must undergo extensive in-person training with live models. It is important to choose quality vs. price because SMP requires expertise in choosing the right organic ink pigments and techniques based on the skin color, texture and hair patterns. Elsie will work with the client to custom-create their desired look.

HOW DOES IT WORK AND HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

The results can be dramatic and immediate after the first session, but plan for 3-5 sessions to achieve the amazing result of what looks like your own hair..

We can recreate your natural hairline, but it also help to conceal old scars from past surgeries, past injuries or if you have alopecia.

HOW LONG DOES SMP LAST?
After your treatments of 3-5 sessions as recommended by your SMP practitioner, client can expect for the color to last between 3-5 years. Those clients who are active outdoors in the sun or frequently in the ocean may experience earlier fading than others.

DOES IT HURT?
You will experience some mild discomfort in exchange for long-lasting results. A topical spray for numbing can be applied if necessary. No Incisions or cutting. No side effects. No downtime to go back to work. SMP is NEVER BLOODY unlike hair transplants/hair surgery or body tattoo. We have clients who fell asleep for a few minutes right in the middle of their SMP session.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Depending on the size of the target area,  your first treatment will probably take approximately 3-5 hours. Your second and third treatment will probably take approximately 2-4 hours. Elsie takes her time to ensure quality of her work as it is her professional signature and reputation at stake.

Choose your SMP practitioner carefully. It is a specialized art and skill. There are plenty examples of botched and subpar SMP on social media.

IS SMP SUITABLE FOR WOMEN WITH HAIR LOSS/THINNING?
Yes! Hair loss in women, even younger women appears to be more common. Diet, stress, bleaching/coloring, traction from tight braids, and hormone changes may contribute but more research needs to be done to better understand the problem. SMP is very appropriate for women who desire the appearance of increased hair density and it can help with the visual improvement and we can help create density of the thinning area.

CAN I DO SMP & PRP FOR DENSITY HAIR LOSS?
Several of our clients who have tried these combo package, Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) saw great results with their thinning hair or density-loss problems several months after their PRP injection therapy. By combining SMP and PRP treatments, clients will have the appearance of having a fuller set of hair.

It is tempting to use price as the most important factor when doing to research to find the best practitioner for you. We have seen many examples of botched jobs uploaded to social media by poorly-trained/ inadequately-skilled practitioners: big bloody dots, incorrect pigments, discoloration, and migration/blending of pigment to name a few. If they are uploading this as a representation of their 'best work', what 'surprises' have they in store for you?

PRICE EXPECTATIONS

This is variable depending on the surface area, scar camouflage, amount of preexisting loss of hair, and expectations of 3-5 total sessions for more extensive needs. Pricing starts from $600/session and up.
